#NoNeed2BaRelative2BFamily

“There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.”

Proverbs 18:24NLT

These last two weeks have been a whirlwind of craziness! With Judah’s surgery last week, packing our house and garage for next week’s relocation, last minute meetings, paperwork… I could go on, but I won’t.

First things first. Judah’s surgery. Thank you to all of you who have been praying for our family and had our backs during this time. Once again, I saw how God has provided not just friendships for us here in Texas, but true family over the last decade. While Neil was out of town last week, I took Judah into San Antonio for his excision on his face where the doctors founds cancer cells a couple weeks ago.

Judah’s 14 stitches have healed quickly in just one week!

Before I even arrived at the surgery center at 8a.m., I received several text messages from several Texas (and one Wisconsin) family members, all praying, sharing Scripture, encouraging, and letting me know they were there for anything I needed -not just during Judah’s surgery, but for the entire week Neil would be out of town. One of our friends drove all the way from Austin just to sit with me in the waiting room while Judah was in surgery. Another friend who’s been practically a neighbor in Canyon Lake brought a mocha latte and a gluten free bar from a local coffee shop. Thank you so much, Lucas and Jayna! You guys were a God-send!

As I drove Judah home later that morning, I began thinking back over the last decade. So many faces came to mind from over the years –faces of people who’ve walked alongside us through some of life’s difficult seasons. I’m humbled by those of you who’ve chosen to have our backs when we felt we were in over our heads. Life is just like that sometimes, but without community, it’s easy to end up treading water. Thank you, all of you, for your soul-friendship. This song performed by NeedToBreathe makes me think of you.

By the way, Judah’s surgery went really well last week. I barely finished my mocha before they called me back to meet him in recovery. I just heard from the doctor Thursday this week. He said the pathology report looked great, and they didn’t find anything that would raise more concern for a cancer diagnosis. Thank You, LORD! And thanks to all of you who texted me on the day of the surgery: Ralph & Michelle, Daryl, Nabiel, Dennis, Jay & Rosemary, Kevin & Kim, Gwen, Bethany, Kelly, Judy, School Teachers: Laura, Lisa, and School Bus Transportation friends: Patty, Kim, Paul, & Dell.
