One Thing Remains…

“But the Word of the LORD remains forever, and that Word is the Good News that was preached to you.” ~ 1 Peter 1:25

One of my favorite Christmas mornings, my brother and I slipped out of bed and hurried IMG-0169to the living room, I noticed a small wardrobe under the tree. the bottom was inscribed “Merry Christmas, Becky Love, Dad & Mom 1978.” Kneeling, I opened the wardrobe door and found several handmade Barbie doll clothes on tiny hangers. Little pink high heels were neatly tucked away in the drawer, and my new Barbie doll stood next to her couture.

Funny how we hang onto things.  I doIMG-0170n’t have my first-ever Barbie doll or any of her homemade dresses, but I still have that little wardrobe.  Sometimes I go into our garage just to look at the miniature wooden wardrobe. I’ll pull out the little drawer, remembering the first time I opened it.

I like tracing the words on the bottom and reminiscing about one of my favorite Christmases ever.

One day, I’ll be gone, and so will the little wardrobe. Today, that Christmas morning is but a memory, and someday that, too, will fade. Nothing lasts forever.

Well, there is one thing…

The first Christmas morning, under the Star, lay the Baby that changed the world forever. The promised Word of God.

Lord, thank You for

the gift of Your Son, the Gift that lasts forever and promises eternity for us.

Hi my good friend in Jesus Christ. I was going through my old emails in Outlook…and lo and behold seeing your “One Thing Remains…” from Dec. 22, 2019, jumped up and caught me eye. Boy, did that make me homesick!!!
Please use my g-mail address to respond when you have a minute. I am well and do think of you and your “favorite male folks” in your life so often. I pray all are well. I do feel blessed for making the move to be 10 minutes from Carol and my “favorite son-in-law,” Michael, and not 5-6 hours away.
text me on my phone if you like. Love and blessings!
