A “Mosaic” Life

What is a “mosaic”?  According to one online dictionary, a mosaic is “a picture or decoration made of small, usually colored pieces of inlaid stone, glass…the process of producing such a picture or decoration.  Something resembling such a picture…, especially in being made up of diverse elements.”  I think that is a perfect definition of life, as well.  At least, it is a perfect definition of my life.

When I look back over the years, I see many seasons, some full of wholeness, happiness, and well-being.  Other seasons resemble fractured pieces, shards, chips, and unsettled struggles.  At the time, nothing seems to make sense. It’s all I can do to see to the other side.  Now, although I still don’t always see the big picture, I am beginning to see how all those seasons fit together to create one large masterpiece!  God has taken the struggles and fractured pieces of my life, and He’s creating a mosaic reflecting His beauty and grace.

In my family, you’ll find disability, pain, autism, crushed hopes, broken dreams. Ours is a life of constant change.  Having said that, having two boys with autism has shown me it takes grace to succeed.  My husband lives with chronic pain, and through him, I am learning to live life gratefully one day at a time. Crushed hopes have led to a realization of higher hopes and attaining new goals.  Old, broken dreams have been upgraded for new, more beautiful ones.  Finally, a life of constant redirection and change is one that I am finding to have promise of new adventures daily.  My life, also, includes some poor choices made along the way, but those choices, when enveloped in God’s grace and wisdom, are the seasons that bring redemption…

…and the reasons I share my life with you.

  2. Thank you for being in my life.

If we think about it, words brought us together.

In the beginning was the Word.
And the Word was with God,
And the Word was God. John 1:1-2

I know each sentence you write contains a piece of your heart.
With a careful examination, it must pass the test of Love.
This requires prayer and study for the Mosaic, our highest Calling.
The pieces glisten and bring clarity for God’s Glory.

How and why do our pieces of His Mosaic fit together?

I stand in awe and wonder of the Majesty of Design.

With every word you write, Love deepens.

    Love you,
    Elizabeth
